American Family Karate started as Alamo Family Karate in San Antonio, TX In January 2001 and is a proud member of The United States Soryu Karate Federation.  Instructors from The United States Soryu Karate Federation have been providing top rate instruction in the Texas Hill Country for over 35 years. The move to New York was made in June 2007 with American Family Karate opening in the Fall of 2007. American Family Karate is the first USSKF school in New York state!

We are committed to providing uplifting martial arts instruction to Christian families and individuals who want a challenge and a change. We provide the ultimate family activity!

We place an emphasis on traditional Soryu curriculum, self-defense, cardiovascular fitness & strength training .  We strive to build confidence, leadership and integrity in every student. 

We recognize that the Lord is responsible for all our gifts, talents and all that we have. Therefore, our teaching is done as if each student were our own family. We are not a militaristic style karate school and parents and students find our relaxed yet structured  atmosphere refreshing.
