Since 2001, American Family Karate has been providing instruction in the martial arts.
In 2007 we opened a new school in the Elmira, NY area.
We place an emphasis on the traditional Soryu curriculum: self-defense, cardiovascular fitness & strength training. We strive to build confidence, leadership and integrity in every student. We are committed to providing uplifting martial arts instruction to families and individuals who want a challenge and a change. We provide the ultimate family activity! Our motto is “The family that kicks together, sticks together.”
American Family Karate started as Alamo Family Karate in San Antonio, TX in January 2001. Instructors from The United States Soryu Karate Federation have been providing top rate instruction in the Texas Hill Country for over 35 years. In June 2007, we moved to New York and restarted the school under our current name, American Family Karate. We are a proud member of The United States Soryu Karate Federation and are the first USSKF school in New York state!

We recognize that the Lord is responsible for all our gifts, talents and all that we have. Therefore, our teaching is done as if each student were our own family. We are not a militaristic style karate school and parents and students find our relaxed, yet structured, atmosphere refreshing.
